Registration/Entries:

$5 per entry, with a maximum of 4 entries.

Your payment MUST be received in order for your entry to be accepted. The deadline for this is 4pm Monday 18th September

No alterations after - 4pm Friday, 15 September, NO alterations on receiving/bring in day.

Categories:
Works may be entered into more than one exhibition category – Art and/or Photography.
Maximum of 4 art works in total. (2 per Category i.e. – 2 into Photography and 2 into Art)
Age of work:
All work must have been completed between September 2022 and September 2023
All work:
Must be ready to hang with appropriate fittings, must be original and the sole work of the artist (thereby not subject to copyright infringement); however, it is acceptable that your teacher/tutor may have provided advice or oversight.
All work entered must be signed by the artist (front or back). Direct copies of other artists work or copies of copy-righted photographic images will not be accepted.
Conditions of Entry
ART CATEGORY:
-
Hung work must not exceed 1m x 1m including the frame or mount and no more than 6kgs.

Wet work will not be accepted.

Inappropriate content will not be accepted.
PHOTOGRAPHY CATEGORY:
Photographic prints must be submitted to an exhibition standard, i.e., good quality matt, appropriately backed and printed and where applicable on photographic paper (NOT 80gsm printer paper).
Photos mounted on a heavy board must have a secure hanging system e.g., D-Rings or similar.

Matt board size - no larger than A2

Matt board must be secured all round so that photos don’t slip out from between the matted surface.

Prints may be under glass and framed but must be ready to hang with D- rings and cord at the back.
Sale of art work | Commission:
If your work is not for sale write NFS on your swing tag and entry form.
All work sold is charged a 20% commission of the sale price by Waitākere Arts including GST of the sale price. Personal tax liability is the responsibility of the artist.
Label Identification:
Please attach a swing tag to the back of your work. The swing tag must include Artist’s Name; Phone no; Title of Work; Category; & Price or NFS and medium used.
Insurance:
Is the responsibility of the artist. While all due reasonable care will be taken with your artwork, Waitākere Arts does not accept responsibility for loss or damage whilst work is in transit or being exhibited.
Judging:
The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. All work will be judged. Any work that does not meet exhibition standard will not be hung.
Prize winners:
You will only be contacted prior to the awards ceremony if you have won a prize. However, we encourage all participants to support their fellow artists and attend the opening evening and awards ceremony!
Exhibiting your work:
Work entered for this exhibition must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibition and CANNOT be picked up by the artist or anyone purchasing the artwork before collection times stated.
Collection/Pick up:
Collection of work is the responsibility of the artist. You may collect your work from Shed 2
4:30pm – 7:30pm Sunday 1st October or
10am – 1pm Monday 2nd October
NOTE: Failure to collect work will result in a $5 per day fee to cover moving and storage of the artwork, useless it’s an emergency and prior arrangements have been made with the Office Manager. Artwork will become the property of Waitākere Arts and be sold or donated to charity if not collected by December 1st 2023.
Media:
Waitākere Arts reserves the right to photograph and publish any entries in such media as they see fit, to promote these or subsequent art events, and will endeavor to take all necessary steps to protect your work from digital theft.

Entry age:
This awards exhibition is open to artists 19 years and over at the time of entry. Please see YOUTH FORM FOR UNDER 19YRS
Categories:
All works will automatically enter the “open section/competition”.
Works may be entered into more than one awards category.
If your entry also fits the criteria for an awards category then you may also tick that relevant category one entry per category.
Looking West & Our People Our Place:
Only artists living in West Auckland are eligible to enter these 2 categories.
Commission:
Waitākere Arts commission on work sold is 30% of the sale price (inc GST). Personal tax liability is the responsibility of the artist.
Insurance:

Any mixed media work needs to be 40% or more paint content.

3D/Sculpture – if your work is heavy or fragile, please consult with the office prior to registration/submission of your entry.
